Individual Therapy

Individual therapy begins with an initial consultation period that generally involves two to three sessions with a therapist. The goal of these first meetings is for you and your therapist to decide how best to address your concerns.

Common Treatment Approaches

Your therapy will most likely make use of both of these approaches. Your therapist may recommend other treatment techniques as well, depending on the nature of your concerns. All of these methods involve talking with your therapist to develop effective solutions to your concerns.

Your therapist will generally recommend once weekly sessions, although sometimes it works better to meet more often. Sessions are 45 minutes long. The duration of your treatment will depend on the issues you are working on. Both short-term (6-8 weeks) and longer-term (2 to 12 months) are common at the Psychological Clinic.
