Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy works to relieve distress and promote personal growth through self-understanding and insight. Understanding can help you develop better coping skills, alleviate distress and live a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

Psychodynamic therapy can be helpful for understanding and improving relationship difficulties, dealing more effectively with school and work stress, navigating difficult life transitions, treating depression and depressive symptoms, relieving symptoms of anxiety, exploring sexual identity issues, and healing from trauma and grief experiences.

Reflective techniques are used in psychodynamic therapy. Your therapist will encourage you to speak as freely and openly as possible about yourself and will work with you to develop insight, understanding and solutions.

Active collaboration with your therapist is primary in this treatment. As you and your therapist come to understand the ways in which current and past problems have affected you over time, you will be better able to make healthier life choices in the future.
