The 2011-2012 Therapy Groups


The University of Michigan Psychological Clinic serves adults 18 and older experiencing a range of difficulties.  The therapy groups are supportive, educational, and aimed at building coping skills. These therapy groups are designed to address stress, inattention, negative emotions, and a nxiety that may interfere with performance. These groups also introduce strategies and skills to improve and effectively manage these issues.

Reducing Performance and Social Anxiety is aimed at  increasing confidence and managing stress in social situations (8-week program beginning January 9th)

Strategies for Improving Attention and Concentration  is aimed at improving attention and concentration skills that can be applied in classrooms, meetings and similar situations  (10 week program beginning October 12 th).

Coping Effectively with Depression focuses on understanding and controlling negative emotions while identifying and maintaining positive emotions (12 week program begins in Early December  ).

Preparation for Stress in Foreign Fieldwork is a group designed for graduate students participating in foreign fieldwork (3 week program will be offered in Winter Semester).   

Managing Test Anxiety  offers strategies to reduce anxiety around test taking situations (8 week group beginning in January 2012). 

Self-Care for Caregivers  is for those who provide care for their loved ones. Skills involving community resources and effective management will be introduced (20 week time limited support group starting in 2012).

The cost is $40 per group therapy session per week. Many insurance policies cover this service. Cash, checks and credit cards are also accepted.   University affiliation is not required to receive services. For more information about our services please call 734-764-3471.
